Package Bomb: Greek Embassy in Paris
A low-powered package bomb was delivered to the Greek Embassy in Paris, France on Monday, but was safely disabled by police. There were no injuries reported. Embassy staff recognized a suspicious package with no external markings, and alerted the police.
French police arrived and detonated the package bomb under controlled conditions. The embassy was evacuated for about 40 minutes. The Greek Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying the origin of the package is unclear and did not list a sender, but the ambassador at the embassy was listed as the recipient. There was also an indication that the package bomb had been delivered from Italy.
This incident follows similar occurrences in Germany and Italy. In both instances, Italian anarchists (the Informal Anarchist Federation) claimed responsibility. They warned that there would be three explosions in their latest campaign, raising suspicion that this third device could be tied to the events last week.
Additionally, authorities in Italy said that bullets were found inside mail that was addressed to the mayor of Rome and the country's justice minister. A note from an extremist group was apparently found inside the envelope. Last
